Think of it this way, if alignment is off, we must use [ineffective] muscles to compensate. That “tension” restricts the freedom necessary for our vocal mechanism and breath mechanism to do their job.

Is maintaining vocal health just about avoiding strain? It’s more comprehensive than that. Vocal health is the bedrock of a sustainable singing career, or even having an optimal experience as an amateur singer.. It involves understanding and practicing techniques that ensure your voice not only stays healthy but also retains its expressiveness and resilience. The voice responds to conditioning. Effective conditioning and health comes from practicing excellent vocal habits daily – and ideally when speaking as well as when singing.
